Alonda Villa Acquisition Association (AVAA) Resident Report

Our mission is to grow and foster a self-reliant community of 55 and older adults with the vision to transform Alonda Villa MHP into a resident-owned community supported by the values of community, friendship, and compassion
Updates
We are part of something exciting, and your AVAA team is working hard! The appraisal is currently underway, and our first fundraiser was a success!
The Great Spaghetti Feed took place last Thursday evening and raised over $1,000 for the AVAA mission. Wow, there were so many volunteers. A heartfelt thank-you to all who made this possible—we couldn’t have done it without you.
Fundraiser Results:
- Sales: $1,510.00
- Donations: $425.98
- Costs: $454.37 Profit: $1,481.61
Member Updates
- Karen Slyter (Treasurer) had back surgery on August 25th and will be recovering for over a month.
- Kathleen Craig (Fundraiser Chair) had surgery on September 3rd and will also be out for a while.
We miss both of you—our group feels smaller without your presence.
Committee Work
The committee has begun documenting and prioritizing urgent park repairs using a streamlined process. This two-week project involves gathering contractor estimates for repairs to:
- The aging and failing water system
- Septic systems
- Roofs
- Roads and driveways
- Potential county-mandated sewer updates
These issues affect both the park’s current value and its long-term sustainability. The data we collect will be tabulated and provided to the appraisal firm to complete their final report.
AVAA Independence
Just a reminder: AVAA is independent of Commonwealth, the Residential Team, and any other park-related entities.
- Please do not leave donations at the clubhouse.
- Please do not direct complaints to Commonwealth or Victoria regarding AVAA. They have no authority over our activities.
- If you have concerns, bring them directly to a committee member.
If you do not wish to receive updates from AVAA, please provide a written request and we will remove you from our contact list. Otherwise, we will continue to include everyone equally in communications.
Purpose of AVAA
We are an independent nonprofit created to build a business case for negotiating a reasonable purchase price with Alonda LLC and securing financing. AVAA operates solely on donations and fundraising and is supported by 10 volunteer board members, protected under state nonprofit liability provisions.
Once a purchase price is agreed upon and financing secured, AVAA will be dissolved. A new resident-owned nonprofit association will be formed:
- Shareholders (resident participants) will elect a board to oversee the park.
- Shareholders will pay monthly dues as part of their lot payment.
- Non-participating residents will remain renters, without voting rights or board representation.
Treasurer’s Report
- Total Donations: $12,624.06 from 74 units (5 new units donated this month).
- Expenses: $4,750 paid for the appraisal.
- Current Balance: $8,664.06 (includes Spaghetti Feed fundraiser proceeds).
More than two-thirds of our park has supported the AVAA mission, either through donations or volunteer work. Together, we are building agency and securing a say in our financial future and quality of life.
Please remember to include a note with any cash donation so receipts can be issued.

We’re excited to announce the Alonda Villa Cookbook!
