Dear Alonda Neighbors,
The Alonda Villa Acquisition Association’s effort to purchase the park has been put on hold. The owner has again bypassed our offer, and another prospective buyer is currently inspecting the property.
We remain committed to pursuing resident ownership and will share updates as soon as we know more. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

As you may know, a recent offer was made to purchase Alonda Villa. We have very little information about it except that it fell through due to the price.
To our advantage, Northwest Cooperative Development Center (also known as ROC Northwest) has made an offer on our behalf, the residents of Alonda Villa, to buy the property and turn it into a resident-owned cooperative (also known as an ROC).
As a reminder . . .
Our goal here is to turn Alonda Villa into a resident-owned cooperative. Cooperatives are a successful and affordable housing model where the residents collectively own and manage the park our homes sit on. This is better for us because we will own it together rather than some outside investor or hedge fund.
Northwest Cooperative Development Center is working with us to safely and legally form the cooperative. They are the ones negotiating on our behalf with the current owner. If they are able to buy the park on our behalf, they will secure inexpensive financing for us, help us obtain grant money to reduce our costs, set up a reasonable maintenance/emergency fund for future expenses, and teach us tried and true methods to ensure our success. Furthermore, they will be there for the next 10 years, helping us along the way to help make sure we are successful going into the future.
Some of the top benefits of turning our community into a resident-owned cooperative:
1) Stabilizing lot rent increases: We are not trying to make a profit like an outside investor would be obligated to do;
2) Every resident would have a voice in the community: As resident members of the cooperative, we would all have a vote on community issues and cooperative management;
3) Improved living conditions: The cooperative board will be working to maintain the park, versus an outside investor who would be trying to minimize costs by not spending money on needed repairs; and…
4) A stronger sense of community: We will all be here to support each other as part of the cooperative.
As we have more information, we will make sure to share it with everyone in the community. Also, if you have access to the Internet, you are welcome to visit our community website at alondavilla.com
