Our Mission
To grow and foster a self-reliant community of adults 55 and older, with the vision of transforming Alonda Villa MHP into a resident-owned community grounded in the values of community, friendship, and compassion.
Update
Legal Counsel
James Randall of Bean, Gentry, Wheeler & Peternell PLLC has reached out to ROC and made contact. ROC is sending over the information and requirements for residents to purchase Alonda Villa Park. James will review the materials and report back to us.
On the matter of residents’ legal rights, a separate attorney at the firm who specializes in landlord-tenant law will be consulted. A meeting will be scheduled in the near future. Please bring any and all concerns to the committee as soon as possible so they can be addressed with the attorney.
Bank Financing Research
The committee will be visiting multiple banks to gather information on potential financing options and identify any roadblocks or barriers to purchasing Alonda Villa Park from Alonda LLC.
Welcoming Letter
A welcoming letter for new residents was proposed, drafted by Carrie Enge, and approved by the committee. It is being printed and will be included in all future welcome packages distributed by the welcoming committee.
Driveways
Several of the seven driveways AVAA identified as falling below ADA standards have been measured and assessed by the owners for repair. We hope to see them addressed soon.
Permits — Reminder
As noted in the previous newsletter: obtaining permits is the responsibility of the hired contractor, not Alonda LLC or Jeff, the maintenance manager. Contractors have up to two weeks to submit all required documentation to the county, as the specific permit type often cannot be determined until work is underway and the full extent of the damage is visible.
According to the county health department, all septic systems at Alonda Villa Park — including the bubblers — are in full compliance with county and state regulations. If you have questions, contact the Thurston County Health Department directly.
Legislative Outreach
Your voice matters. Please write to your representatives and let them know your concerns.

Treasurer’s Report
Current bank balance: $10,277.41
Over 76 individual units have contributed financially, and 8 additional residents who are unable to contribute financially have given their time. Together, more than two-thirds of the park is actively supporting the AVAA mission. Thank you all.
Cookbook — Recipes and Remembrances
Sales have been excellent. Only 46 copies remain of the limited edition Alonda Villa cookbook — a great gift for the hard-to-buy-for people in your life, with over 300 recipes inside. To order, call or text Carrie Enge at 907-723-9898 or email carrieenge@gmail.com. She will even deliver.
Financial Assistance for Seniors
In these times of rising costs, many of us are feeling the strain. There are programs available to help low-income seniors. One worth knowing about is the Puget Sound Energy Flex Program, which can reduce your electricity costs, explain how to enroll, and shows how participation supports the growth of clean energy in our community. Learn more at PSE.com/Flex.
Upcoming Meetings — all held in the clubhouse
- February 18th at 1:00 PM — daytime meeting

Going forward, all meetings will be held in the evening every six weeks unless there is something significant to report sooner. Please mark your calendars. We look forward to seeing you all.
Apologies for the date error in last month’s newsletter regarding the January meeting.
