Our Mission
To grow and foster a self-reliant community of adults 55 and older, with the vision of transforming Alonda Villa MHP into a resident-owned community grounded in the values of community, friendship, and compassion.
Update
We are part of something exciting. Your AVAA team is working hard — the appraisal is underway, and our first fundraiser was a success.
The Great Spaghetti Feed took place last Thursday evening and was a tremendous effort by so many volunteers. Thank you to each and every one of them.
| Sales | $1,510.00 |

We also want to send our warmest wishes to two valued team members who are recovering from surgery. Karen Slyter (AVAA Treasurer) had back surgery on August 25th and will be out for over a month. Kathleen Craig (AVAA Fundraising Chair) had surgery on September 3rd and will also be out for a while. We miss you both dearly.
Infrastructure Assessment
The committee has developed a methodology for identifying and documenting the park’s most urgent repair needs as efficiently as possible, and is currently in the midst of completing this two-week project. We will be contacting contractors for cost estimates on aging and failing water systems, septic systems, roofs, roads, driveways, and any future sewer requirements dictated by the county. These issues affect the park’s current value and would require a long-range mitigation plan if the purchase moves forward. The goal is to compile and tabulate all findings within the next two weeks and deliver them to the appraisal firm for inclusion in their final report.
A Reminder About AVAA
AVAA is entirely independent of Commonwealth, the Residential Team, and any other park management operations. Please do not leave donations at the clubhouse, and do not bring concerns about AVAA’s activities to Commonwealth or Victoria — they have no authority over what we do. If you have a concern, please bring it directly to a committee member.
If you do not wish to be contacted by AVAA, please submit that request in writing and we will remove you from our list. Until we receive such a request, we will assume you want to stay informed and will treat all residents equally.
To ensure our success, it is essential that we stay focused. AVAA is an independent nonprofit with one purpose: to build a business case that will support negotiating a reasonable purchase price with Alonda LLC and securing the necessary financing. The organization is led by 10 volunteer board members covered under our state liability umbrella, and operates solely on donations and fundraising revenue.
This is distinct from the eventual resident association, which will own the land, operate as a business, and generate monthly revenue. Once a viable purchase price and financing are in place, AVAA will be dissolved. A new nonprofit will be formed with residents as shareholders, who will elect a board to oversee park operations. Shareholders will pay monthly dues through their lot payments. Residents who choose not to join the association will remain lot renters without a board vote or say in the park’s direction.
Treasurer’s Report
Total donations received: $12,624.06 from 74 individual units — including 5 new units this month Appraisal payment issued: $4,750.00 Current balance: $8,664.06 (includes Spaghetti Feed proceeds)
More than 74 units have contributed financially, and more than a half-dozen residents who are unable to contribute financially have given their time. Together, over two-thirds of the park is actively supporting the AVAA mission.
Please include a note with your name on any cash donation so a receipt can be issued.
Holiday Cookbook Fundraiser
AVAA is assembling an Alonda Villa community cookbook to raise funds for legal fees, build community spirit, and celebrate great recipes — including Sandy Williams’ award-winning banana peanut butter pie.
Recipe submissions are now closed, and we have received over 300 recipes. Carrie Enge is taking pre-orders now. Cookbooks are expected to arrive the second week of November and will be priced at $20.
Next Meeting
Our next meeting will be held on October 14th, immediately following the Residential Meeting in the clubhouse. We look forward to seeing you all.
