Our Mission
To grow and foster a self-reliant community of adults 55 and older, with the vision of transforming Alonda Villa MHP into a resident-owned community grounded in the values of community, friendship, and compassion.
Update
Amazing things are happening. Your AVAA committee is running like a well-oiled machine. Completed to date:
- Organized and registered as a nonprofit with the state
- Sent a certified letter to Alonda LLC stating our intention to purchase
- Launched a website (alondavilla.com) and bulletin board to support community communications
- Opened a business bank account as required by the state
- Conducted outreach to politicians and the cities of Lacey and Olympia, and to the county, for information and support
- Initiated fundraising efforts
- Researched future risks and costs by attending city, county, and state planning meetings
- Commissioned SH&H Valuation and Consulting Firm to conduct the appraisal, with a property walkthrough scheduled for August 25th
The committee is now focused on identifying, documenting, mapping, and estimating repair costs for the park’s aging infrastructure — including water systems, septic systems, roofs, roads, and driveways — as well as researching future county sewer requirements. These factors affect the park’s current value and would require a long-range financial mitigation plan if the purchase moves forward.
A Note on Our Work
Becoming our own advocates will take sustained effort. The good news is that we have a remarkable group of residents with a wide range of skills, knowledge, and experience. Every contribution, no matter how small, moves us one step closer to controlling our own futures and having a meaningful say in our financial wellbeing and quality of life.
Please remember that AVAA is entirely independent of Commonwealth, the Residential Team, and any other park management operations. Do not leave donations at the clubhouse, and please do not direct complaints about AVAA’s work to Commonwealth or Victoria — we do not answer to them. If you have questions or concerns, please come directly to a board member.
If you do not wish to be contacted by AVAA, please put that request in writing and we will remove you from our list. Until we receive such a request, we will assume you want to stay informed and will treat all residents equally.
A Word on Governance
It is important that we stay focused. At this stage, AVAA is an independent nonprofit with one purpose: to build a business case that will support negotiating a reasonable purchase price with Alonda LLC and securing financing for that purchase. Our state filings provide a liability umbrella for the 10 board members. AVAA operates solely on donations and fundraising revenue.
This structure is distinct from the eventual resident association, which would own the land, operate as a business, and generate monthly revenue. AVAA will continue to share information with the community and welcome feedback, ideas, and concerns — but with only 10 volunteer board members functioning as a tight-knit team, we need to stay nimble. We will not be holding public board meetings or publishing board meeting minutes.
Once a viable purchase price and financing are secured, AVAA will be dissolved. A new nonprofit will be formed with shareholders who elect a board responsible for overseeing park operations. Residents who choose to become shareholders will pay monthly dues through their lot payments. Residents who prefer not to join the association will remain lot renters and will not have a vote on the board or a say in the direction of the park.
Treasurer’s Report

Holiday Cookbook Fundraiser
AVAA is assembling an Alonda Villa community cookbook. The goals are to raise funds for legal fees, build community spirit, and preserve great recipes — like Sandy Williams’ award-winning banana peanut butter pie. Submit as many recipes as you like. We want to create a cookbook thick enough to be worth browsing.
To contribute, you can:
- Drop recipes in the AVAA drop box
- Call Carrie Enge
- Pick up a submission form at the clubhouse
Or submit online yourself:
- Go to the Typensave website
- Click “Login”
- Enter Alonda as your username
- Enter custard702 as your password
- Fill in the blank fields
- Hit return after each ingredient — the program will continue adding space until all ingredients are entered
- Complete the remaining fields
- Click Save to confirm your entry
Prefer to hand it off? We are happy to enter it for you.

Thank You
AVAA would like to extend sincere thanks to Friends of Alonda for their generous donation in support of our mission.
Infrastructure Assessment — Volunteers Needed
The board is forming a new sub-committee to gather information, map conditions, and solicit contractor bids on the park’s top five cost-risk areas:
- Driveways and roads
- Septic systems (mapping and age assessment)
- Water infrastructure (mapping and age assessment)
- Roofs (clubhouse and shed)
- Future sewer connection requirements per the county’s 10-year plan
Even if you are not able to volunteer formally, please take note of issues you observe — crumbling driveways, water leaks, slow or failing septic systems, road problems — and pass that information to any board member. This data is essential for an accurate property valuation and will also help form the foundation of a long-range maintenance plan. A well-considered plan will be key to long-term success.
Get Involved
Volunteer response has been strong — but we need more. Every one of us brings something unique to this effort, and everyone is needed and wanted. The more people involved, the less likely anything is to be missed or overlooked. If we can imagine it, we can achieve it. Let’s imagine big.
Our next meeting will be an evening meeting on September 17th at 6:30 PM. We look forward to seeing you all.
“It is often the small steps, not the giant leaps, that bring about the most lasting change.” — Queen Elizabeth II
